"hey nick," brian said opening the front door. "you wanna go wake em up....?"
nick walked in the house,"...okay..."
brian tried not to laugh,"go ahead...dont knock, just go right in."
nick shrugged and went up to emmas room. he opened the door and walked right in. he tried not to laugh, she was sleeping on her stomach with her head buried under the pillow. he walked over and sat on the edge of the bed.
"hey em, wake up..."he said shaking her gently.
she lifted up the pillow and hit him with it,"...go away brian."
he smiled,"em its not brian..."
she rolled over and looked at him,"...oh hey nick...just invite yourself in, make yourself comfy. wanna join me in bed? damn..."
nick rolled his eyes,"this is why brian thought it would be funny for me to wake you up...come on...get up, we gotta barbeque and if you dont get up it will be just me and brian alone with the grill..."
she shot up in bed,"...okay im up, get out so i can change."
he saluted her,"yes ma'am," he said and went out of the room. emma changed out of her pajamas into a black two piece bathing suit with board shorts and went out to the backyard where nick and brian were trying to figure out how to start the grill.
"um...okay guys...why dont we wait until kev gets here to do that..."emma said taking the lighter fluid out of brians hands.
they both glanced at her and brian raised his eyebrows,"and i have a suggestion...why dont you go put a shirt on..."
"no dad...im covered."
"barely...." brian said.
"i dont mind..."nick said.
brian rolled his eyes,"you wouldnt."
nick was about to say something when the doorbell rang,"ill get it," emma said and ran inside.
"hey kevy," she said opening the door. "whats in the bag?" she asked eyeing the disney bag in his hand.
he kissed her on the cheek,"its nicks, if you wanna know ask him."
she rolled her eyes,"fine...you better get out there, those two are trying to start the bbq..."
he raised his eyebrows and went outside followed by emma. brian had the lighter fluid in his hands again,"okay bri...no. nick heres you bag," he said handing nick the disney bag.
"oh yeah, thanks," nick said and disappeared inside.
"kev...i know how to work the grill," brian was trying to convince kevin.
"im sure you do, i just know how to work it better. go get the food," kevin said taking the lighter fluid and lighting the grill.
brian turned on his pout and emma started laughing,"aww...poor bri didnt get his way..."she teased.
brian looked at her, picked her up, tossed her in the pool and went inside as if nothing happened.
"that little brat!" she screamed as she surfaced.
howie, aj, and amanda came through the backgate,"...must be brian..." aj said. amanda went over to the pool and helped emma out, she whispered something to her and emma laughed and nodded.
"what are you talking about?" howie asked going over to help kevin while aj went inside to help brian.
amanda smiled sweetly,"absolutely nothing."
nick came back out,"what happened?" he asked walking over to emma.
"your wonderful friend threw me in the pool..."
he was about to answer when amanda turned to him,"nick, can i ask you something?"
"whoa...you called me nick...what?"
she smiled and shoved him in the pool,"nevermind."
"what did ya do that for?!" he asked as he surfaced.
"just wanted to see if you could float with all that air in your head."
emma burst out laughing and nick looked at her,"oh you think thats funny..." he quickly jumped out of the pool, grabbed both amanda and emma around the waist and jumped back in.
"oh blondie, your funny...."amanda said as she came up,"just wait." she swam away from him and got out of the pool. emma tried to get away but nick still had his arm around her waist.
"okay...nick you can let go now..."
"huh?" he realized his arm was around her waist and blushed,"sorry," he mumbled and let her go.
she hopped out of the pool and wrapped herself in a towel and went over to talk to amanda who was sitting in the one of the lounge chairs. brian, seeing nick in the pool, took that as an invitation to play water basketball. he grabbed a ball and cannonballed into the pool starting off a nearly two hour game.
